How To Play Go Fish
Go fish is a fun family card game. Played with a pack of 52 deck of cards. The game can be played with 2 people or more.
Game Objective
The aim of the game is to complete the most amount of sets. A set is also known as a book. Sets are any four of its kind. For example, a set is made of 4 of its kind such as four kings, four queens and so on.
Dealing
First thing is to deal out the cards.
- Any player participants must deal one card face up to each player. The player with the lowest card is the dealer of the game.
- The dealer will shuffle the pack.
- For 2 to 3 players the dealer will deal 7 cards to each player. If there are more than 3 players the dealer will only have to deal 5 cards to each player.
- The rest of the deck is placed in the middle face down.
Game Play
- Play starts from the player who is on the left side of the dealer (clockwise)
- The player has to address one opponent of his or her choice by name and ask for a required set of cards. For example "Tom do you have any fives?" Bearing in mind the fisher must have already a card in hand of the card he/she is requesting.
- If the player who had been addressed has the requested card/cards in their hand he/she must hand over all the requested card/cards to the fisher.
-
If the player who had been addressed does not have the requested card/cards in their hand then the player must tell the fisher to go fish.
- The fisher will have to pick up one card from the top deck that was placed in the middle and keep the card in hand.
- If the fisher does receive the card/cards they requested they are then allowed to ask the same or another player for a card. Note the fisher can ask for the same card or a different one. So as long as the fisher makes a catch (receives there requested card/cards their turn continues.
- When the fisher makes a catch the fisher must reveal the catch (card) to the group so that the catch is verified.
- When a player has a set or book (for example all four Kings or all four 10's and so on) the player must place the set on the (all four cards) on the table upright for the group to see. Again their turn continues.
- If the fisher fails to make a catch from a chosen player (meaning he/she does not receive the card/cards requested .) Then the game continues onto the player on the left.
Winning Game
- Go fish end when all 13 sets (Books) have been won. The player with the most sets wins.
- If a player is left without any cards during the game, then the player must draw a card from the top deck and request the chosen card in hand to a fellow player when it is their turn.
- If there are no cards left in the deck then the game stops and ends.
