What Are Our Five Senses?
Discover how we explore the world!

Hello, Tiny Champions!
Did you know your body has superpowers that help you explore the world every single day? These superpowers are called your five senses. They help you see bright colors, hear your favorite songs, taste yummy foods, smell sweet flowers, and feel soft cuddly toys. Let’s discover how each sense works and why they are so important!
Seeing
Our sense of sight helps us understand the world through our eyes. We see colors, shapes, and movement. The eyes send signals to the brain, which tells us what we are looking at.
Hearing
Our ears pick up sounds big and small. From birds singing to loud music, hearing helps us communicate and stay safe. Inside the ear, tiny parts vibrate when sound waves enter.
Smelling
Our nose can sniff hundreds of different smells! Smelling helps us enjoy yummy food and also warns us of danger, like smoke. The nose sends smell signals straight to the brain.
Tasting
Our tongue is covered in tiny taste buds that let us know if something is sweet, sour, salty, or bitter. Taste and smell work together to make food extra delicious.
Touching
Our skin lets us feel hot, cold, soft, rough, smooth, or sharp. Touch helps us understand the world around us and protects us from harm.
Working Together
All five senses work together to help us explore and learn. Without them, the world would be a lot harder to understand!
