Key (in Mathematics)

In mathematics, a key is a small box or legend that explains the meaning of symbols, colors, or patterns used in a chart, graph, or map. It helps readers understand the information being shown.
For example, in a bar chart showing favorite fruits, the key might show that the color red stands for apples, yellow for bananas, and green for grapes. Without the key, it would be difficult to know what each color or symbol represents.
The key is an important tool for making data clear and easy to read.
