Balance

Definition:
A balance is a tool used to compare the weight of two objects. It usually has two pans or trays that show which side is heavier or if both are equal.

In maths:
Balances are often used in problems to show equal amounts on each side, just like an equals sign (=) in equations.

Example:
If one pan has 5 blocks and the other pan has 2 blocks plus 3 blocks, the balance shows they are the same.

Fun fact:
Balances help us understand the idea of equality in maths.
